15 Years: #3 of 15

3. You can do anything, but you have to really try. Things change. Who could have ever anticipated this year would be such an economic black hole for hotels?  Last year we were all fat farmers, raking in the business by the bushelfuls.  This year, we are scrawny, hungry hunters, out of practice in a dog-eat-dog world, probably armed with a dusty bow and a few decrepit arrows.

While our duties and responsibilities may have changed in order to adapt to our new sales environment or workload, it doesn’t mean we can accomplish them outright. We might have to really apply ourselves. We have to want to do it be a better salesperson, one who can cold call, teleprospect, open and close sales calls, negotiate and show general flexibility in how we have always done things And if we are not good at it right away, it may mean we might even need to practice. Or, heaven forbid, need to study.  Yes, pull out the old binders and books, folks. Sometimes it might be even as simple or hard as asking for help and direction from a pro on how to stalk, hunt, and capture the sale.  Because if you don't, I guarantee, one of your competitors will make the kill.

But if I know you like I think I do, than you can do this thing.  And yes, you look much better in camouflage than you do in denim overalls.  Even if it is orange.
