Sweet Sixteen: 16 Years in Hospitality - #8 of 16

8.  Journal, journal, journal.

If you are not naturally inclined to be Bridget Jones, it's time to rethink your modus operandi.  Start journaling.  Hand-written, electronic, or a series of hieroglyphics on papyrus complete with both smiley and frownie faces -- it all works.  Maybe it sounds dumb but it does two things for you:  One, it helps you remember what you did and when, and second, it helps you remember how far you've come.

If you forget when you had an important discussion or when something good/bad happened, it will be right there in your journal.

Or, if you start to lose hope and faith and think we-are-never-going-to-get-there-why-do-I-even-try-anymore-I-hate-my-life-aaaaaaahhhhhhh, then you can look back and see how far you came.

(By the way, that last remark was NOT an actual entry, but I believe I can take credit as being the original penman of the phrase "un-fing-believable."  No, I never promised this was a g-rated blog.)
